It’s hard to believe, but the sun is starting to set on Summer 2014. School is starting and vacations are ending, but the sweltering heat doesn’t seem to be letting up anytime soon (why, Mother Nature, why?). Fall fashion is right around the corner, and we’re already craving ankle booties, chunky knits, and so-soft scarves bundled up to our ears. But just the thought of wearing closed-toed shoes — let alone a sweater (it has that name for a reason) — makes us want to turn up the AC to full blast.

So as you lie next to a fan blowing full-speed, gulping ice water, and flipping through your new September issues, just remember, you can still look fabulous in the never-ending heat. Our Giftbar merchants have just the accessories to keep you looking hot and feeling cool (both temperature and street cred-wise).

Don’t Sweat It

Your wardrobe may change with the seasons, but there’s one thing that pretty much always stays the same: your makeup routine. Nothing’s worse than having your foundation melt off of your face half way through the day and your mascara stream down your cheeks as you cry “because it’s just too hot function” (maybe that’s just us?). With this super summery beauty bag from NYC fave, Kirna Zabête, you can keep all of your makeup must-haves with you throughout the day… without toting along your entire vanity. All you really need is your trusty powder, lip gloss, waterproof mascara (just in case of tears), and a spritz of your signature scent.

Keep ‘em Shaded

What screams “cool” more than a pair of killer sunnies? As long as you keep them restricted for outdoor use only — seriously, Kanye, is it really that bright inside? — sunglasses can make quite the statement. Nashville merchant, Barton Perreira, has a collection of shades to rival even the most avid accessory-lover, with styles and colors to fit any fashionista’s personal style. From classic, to trendy, to “where did you get those? I have to have them now,” these eyewear experts definitely have your next go-to pair in stock.

Espadrilles are Back

The espadrille trend is back, ladies, and it seems to be here to stay. As much as we love the Birkenstock trend (they’re just. so. comfortable!), they’re not exactly every fashionista’s cup of tea. Luckily, platform espadrilles are just as on-trend, AND they’re feminine enough for those less edgy gals who will simply never embrace normcore — no matter how street-style-chic it may be. These beauties from D.C. accessory haven, Bishop Boutique, are neutral enough for everyday wear, plus they’ll keep your piggies cool while showing off your new pedicure. Perfect.

From the Beach to the Bar

Summer is about to be a distant memory, replaced by the bitter cold and dread of of the impending winter… (Sorry, we’re getting ahead of ourselves. Rewind.) Everyone’s favorite season is coming to a close, but you don’t have to stop basking in the summer sun. It’s time to take advantage of the last few beach days… followed by nights at the beachside bars, of course. This dress from swimwear authority, Eberjey, is light and breezy enough to be a seaside cover-up, but boho-chic enough to be transitioned to an ultra-flirty nighttime dress, perfect for sipping margs with the girls. All you have to do is pack a few accessories in your beach bag, and you’ll be set for a night out!

Top It All Off

How to Look Cool and Keep Cool rule number one: top every outfit with a straw hat. These toppers have been staples in your local farmer’s wardrobe for years (probably centuries), but of course, they’ve been updated in all sorts of styles — from floppy sun hats, to classic fedoras, to trendy panama hats like this find from L.A. merchant, Madison. Combine it with your everyday sunblock — yes, ladies, you should be wearing this everyday… tisk, tisk — and the days of fretting about wrinkles will be a thing of the past. Phew!
