Not in the mood for peach-blueberry crisp? Who even are you?

First of all, s/o to Society Fair for totally making our stomachs grumble with their Instagram post of baskets-full of some seriously juicy, sweet looking peaches—thus inspiring us to share this recipe.

Second of all, thank you to Better Homes and Gardens for teaching us how to make a peach-blueberry crisp that will definitely be the big hit at your next summer BBQ.

Remember, normally we would be spending our food gift cards to purchase a pre-made dessert. So don’t go blaming us if it turns out badly (which it won’t).

And if nothing else, at least you’ll have your gift cards to spend on another dessert. Hey, you made the effort. You go Glen Coco.

What you need

  • 3 cups sliced, peeled fresh peaches
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup regular rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup chopped almonds
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup flaked coconut
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup frozen light whipped dessert topping, thawed (we prefer a whole pint of vanilla bean ice cream, though—up to you)
  • ground whole nutmeg

What you do

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. In three 6 1/2-inch ovengoing skillets, or a 2-quart baking dish, combine peaches and blueberries. Sprinkle with ground nutmeg.
  2. For the topping, in a medium bowl stir together oats, almonds, brown sugar, coconut, and cinnamon. Drizzle with melted butter; toss gently to coat. Sprinkle topping over fruit.
  3. Bake for 25 to 35 minutes (maybe go for a little jog while it bakes to get your stomach growling) or until peaches are tender and topping is golden. If necessary to prevent overbrowning, cover loosely with foil for the last 10 minutes of baking.
  4. Serve warm. Top each serving with whipped cream or ice cream (or both) and sprinkle with grated nutmeg.
  5. Voila! Your dessert is coming in hot!

What’s a summer BBQ without some booze, eh? This dessert is sweet and heavy on the spices (hi, nutmeg and cinnamon) so you’ll want to keep the drinks light, fizzy, and super fresh. Citrus-y fruits like lemon and lime pair perfectly with pretty much all other sweet fruits, so any of these drinks will do the trick:
