Pajamas you can wear in public? Finally.
But we’re not talking about that old high school track team tee shirt. This trend is all about sleepwear-inspired clothing that you most likely wouldn’t actually wear to bed.
THE TREND
Sleepwear was one of the hottest trends seen on the Fashion Week Spring/Summer ’16 runways last fall. Everyone from Loewe, to Etro, to Gucci embraced comfort in the chicest way possible.
From slinky slips to silky PJs, celebrities have also been all about updating their sleepwear as streetwear lately. Just ditch the slippers for thigh-high boots or sexy sandals, add a pop of lipstick, carry your favorite ‘it’ bag and voila! You’ve mastered the sleepwear trend for yourself.
GET THE LOOK
When trying out the sleepwear trend for yourself, remember that less is more. You’re already wearing pajamas out and about, so the worse thing you can do is pile on unnecessary accessories that take the look from effortless, to trying way too hard to be trendy.
And being trendy is never the ultimate goal. The goal is to take a trend, and interpret it to fit your own unique personal style.
1. THE SLIP DRESS
To temper what is most likely the sexiest version of the sleepwear trend, layer your slip dress on top of your favorite white tee, and finish the look with simple sneakers, a neutral handbag, and a statement necklace that can take the look from day to night (just ditch the tee and swap out the kicks for heels).

2. THE PJ SET
This is the version of the trend that will probably confuse most style un-savvy passerby… Because they look like expensive pajamas. So to keep from looking “just rolled out of bed” sloppy, elevate the matching shirt and pant set with minimalist heels, a sophisticated bag, and sleek earrings to add an extra dimension of polish. And if you’re taking cues from Jessica and Selena, finish the look with a bold red lip.

3. THE SILK ROBE
We love treating a open silk robe as an elegant cardigan, especially when it looks like this Stevie Howell number. And when layered on top of simple black skinnies, an easy white top, and slip-on loafers (another cheeky nod to the sleepwear trend), your style will be unparalleled.
