Now that spring is finally here, it’s time to ditch the head-to-toe black.
But it’s not yet summer (it’s barely even spring) so you also need to keep those jeans and sweaters on hand.
We know we talk about womenswear all the time, now let’s hear it for the boys! These are some of the wardrobe essentials you guys need in your spring closet this year. And every other year after this.
1. Blue Suiting
There’s absolutely no room for drab color in the spring, especially when you’ve spent the last four months dressed in head-to-toe black and grey. So for 2016, swap out your typical black suit for blue — the color is lighter, fresher, and cooler (in both ways). And when updated when a subtle pink windowpane, you know you’ve found the perfect spring suit.
2. Updated Wayfarers
Boring black shades be gone. This spring, embrace tortoise finishes, metal accents and unexpected colors. Now that the sun is staying out longer, you’ll be wearing your sunglasses more and more, so go for a pair that resembles your trusty wayfarers, but are updated with a modern round shape and fresh details.
3. Brown Shoes
Some people say that brown and black don’t mix (even though they sometimes do in our book), so when you ditch your all-black everything for denim, lighter chinos, and navy suiting, swap out your black shoes for a more casual brown. Whether it’s your dress shoes, your weekend boots, or your go-to sneakers, nothing says “it’s finally spring” like getting to wear shoes that you were too afraid to wear in the winter… Damn you, salt stains.
4. Cool (but cozy) outerwear
Is there any better feeling than a sitting around a fire on a cool spring/summer night? How about sitting around a fire with s’mores (and alcohol). Better. While the night may start out warm, as the sun sets, so does your body heat. So whether you’re a cardi guy or the pullover hoodie type, you’ll need a variety of lightweight sweaters for the spring.
